Obituary for Bill Hobby

Bill Hobby, age 85, of Princeton, KY, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at Caldwell Medical Center. He was a retired printer for the Caldwell County Times & Princeton Times Leader, a former bus driver for Pennyrile Allied Community Services, and a member of Northside Baptist Church. Bill was a 1952 graduate of Butler High School. He held several offices in and faithfully coached Youth Inc. basketball, baseball, softball, and football teams; achieving numerous awards, winning seasons and championships with his players. In 1974, Bill was awarded as the "Tiger Booster of the Year" for his outstanding contribution to the high school football program. He was a Kentucky Colonel and loved watching the Kentucky Wildcats play basketball. In 1975, he was awarded by the Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society for his work with the youth of the community and also awarded the Kiwanis Citizen of the Year. Bill enjoyed shooting pool, tinkering on projects, and spending time with his family and puppy Rosie.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara Oliver Hobby; one daughter, Rhonda Hawkins and husband Eddy; one son, Mike Hobby and wife Pam; grandchildren Brett Hawkins, Lindsey Lynn, and Seth Willis; great-grandchildren Ady Hawkins, Colton Lee Hawkins, and Ella Grace Lynn; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Owen Hobby and Bessie Nichols Hobby Horning; one sister, Maurine Harris; and three brothers Charles Lowell Hobby, Bernard Hobby, and Reginald Hobby.
