Our History
Beginning Our Second Century of Service.
In the early 1900s it was fairly common for funeral directors to make and sell furniture. In 1906, our grandfather founded Morgans just that way, by starting out as Princeton Furniture and Undertaking Company. Later, as the service to the community expanded, Robert and Evelyn Morgan built a dedicated funeral chapel in 1935 on South Seminary Street.
At Robert Morgans death the management and operation passed to the six children of Robert and Evelyn H. Morgan: Hewlett, Virginia, John, Richard, James and William. The last three being recently discharged from the Air Force after serving in WWII.
In 1964 seeing the need for larger facilities, construction began on a new funeral home at the corner of West Washington and South Seminary. It opened for business on January 1, 1965. Only minor changes such as redecorating, updated lighting and general maintenance have been made to this building, which still houses Morgans Funeral Home.
Today, the funeral home is still owned and operated by the Morgan family. A committed, well-trained staff is always available to provide you with the care you deserve.
